Not for the first time when I have planned a club walk our friend 'the railway ' let us down once again . A cancellation of the train taking everyone (except me) to Fiskerton meant a quick change of plan had to be implemented.

As the planned 7.5 mile walk was no longer possible I decided on a shorter walk from Nottingham to Wollaton Park. As I was suffering from a nasty cold so a shorter walk actually suited me better than the original one.

I was met by 11 able bodied walkers at Nottingham.  We set off along the canal , crossing Nottingham's lesser kown other river,  the Leen. Leaving the canal, a short section of road walking brought us into Highfields Park  which is overlooked by Nottingham University. A pleasant walk beside the lake and then through parts of the University and into Wollaton Park.  Plenty of deer roaming  around the grounds.

Lunch was taken in some conveniently placed cabins .
