Leaders Advice
Apart from the advice given on the next page which is extracted from The Ramblers Web Site, there are one or two conditions that must be carried out and one or two things that you should consider carrying out when planning and leading a walk on behalf of the club.
ESSENTIALS
1. A first aid kit must accompany every walk. The one's supplied by the Club can be obtained from any Committee Member.
2. The appropriate fee should be collected from members at the end of the walk and the subscription book filled out and countersigned by another member. The fees are currently; Full Member...£1 and non-members £1.50. The book is kept together with the first aid kit. A list of all members emergency contact numbers are also kept with the subscription book too. (Please remember that these numbers are to be kept private and must never be used for any purpose other than contact in an emergency)
3. The walk must usually be carried out at the pace of the slowest member. (see rules for exceptions.)
RECOMMENDATIONS
1. On difficult terrain walks, where the group may spread out, consider appointing a back marker.
2. Use the Club Walkie Talkies if appropriate and available.
3. If your walk involves using public transport which members and non-members will have to pay for, consider asking the club for monetary assistance. This is done via using a Transport Assistance form. This can be obtained via any Committee member or downloaded here.
4. Its worth noting the extracts from past Committee meetings where members can obtain monetary assistance from the Club on certain walks. These are also printed on the front of the Subs book.
5. Advise members who wish to drink alcohol during the walk of the possible side effects to themselves. i.e. dehydration.
