After mondays heavy rain today was much better with bright skies .
The 16 strong group left Stafford following paths through a housing estate and some muddy footpaths to reach the disused railway line which ran from Stafford to Newport .
We followed this before entering Duddas wood and then some muddy and slippery paths took us to a underpass under the M6 .
Hema managed to slip over her one muddy knee to prove it .
Paths took us to a woodland path that descended to the Stafford Castle visitors centre were we made use of the picnic tables for our xmas fayre to be shared by the group .
After the stop we ascended up to the castle with fine views and then muddy paths alongside Stafford golf club took us back into outskirts of Stafford .
We were met by Mark Sadler at this point and after a short road walk and passing through Stafford park we reached the wetherspoons
Refreshment was taken here and also Paul Bridges and john Roberts met us
A good day all round weather good despite the mud and a good end of year walk and christmas get together.
Lets hope for plenty more in 2026
Merry christmas
A.Dulson
