We got the train to Conisborough meeting Phil & Mary there in dry conditions we followed paths to Conisborough viaduct.
Then retraced our tracks to a path to go alongside the viaduct and follow the river bank of the Don .
We left the river path after deciding to take the Sprotbrough nature reserved path which incured a bit of steepish walking before getting back onto river path.
Then at A1 motorway bridge we left this to follow paths and farmers tracks to Cusworth estate .
Lunch was taken here some of us made use of cafe for tea and cake .
On leaving the estate I made a slight error turning on to a path too soon and we ended up going in a circle back to where we entered the path ( well I did last do this walk 8 years ago ).
We got back on track and followed old railway path to a footbridge over the railway to rejoin the river which we followed into Doncaster (phil and Mary left just before railway bridge to get a taxi into Doncaster)
Refreshment was taken at the Draughts man on Doncaster station before trains home .
The walk I advertised as 7.5 miles but due to going via Sprotsborough nature reserve and the slight mistake I made it was longer some discretion between 10.5 and 9.5 miles but any way we all survived the extra miles and kept dry and enjoyable walk .
A.Dulson .
