Possibly the shortest club walk, ever?
At Birmingham International station Mac was a bit disgruntled to find that the booking office, where he used to work, is now a fried chicken takeaway!
We found the path route under Bickenhill Lane but then struggled to find access to the actual path which was behind a small fence next to us. We clambered over a bit of damaged fence before finding a proper access gate a few yards further on. This wasn`t reccied! The path then ran between the railway and the airport perimeter for around a mile. Good nedding opportunities for trains and planes.
We then came out on to Elmdon Lane, a very posh road but amazingly close to the airport runway. This lead to a path which took us to the flight watch area at the north end of the runway. We had our lunch here in lovely sunshine. The Emirates A380 took off towards the south but gave us impressive views of it turning round a few yards away.
I think this walk report is longer than the walk.
