After a cancellation to our Wigan service from New st we had to get earlier trains to Wolverhampton as service started there ,this making us 10 mins late into Wigan

After a walk over to Wigan Wallgate we got train to Appley bridge before joining the Leeds / Liverpool canal to Gathurst .

We then proceed under the motorway and followed sometimes muddy woodland paths and lane/ roads to arrive at our lunch stop in Roby mill

After lunch we followed grassy paths and lanes with some fine views of Pendle hill and surrounding area to reach Ashhurst beacon. Also seeing a white peacock on the way .

After descending from the beacon through woodland paths we then followed lanes passing a big Thomas the tank engine replica in someone's garden then followed paths back into Appley Bridge where we had 2,pubs to choose from but the one was supposed to be open was closed and the one that was suppose to be closed was open please update your website's lol

After refreshment we headed back to Wigan but to Wigan central first for more refreshment before back to North Western station for trains back

A enjoyable day in warm weather and a first walk for our new member Martin Tinsley
