A super turnout for this walk with two non members joining us from Leeds.

We set off in cold but dry conditions. Paths and lanes took us to the first section of old track bed . After a few miles on here we stopped in the grounds of a closed pub, The Last Inn and had lunch on their garden tables. After another mile we reached the old Stairfoot station, shortly after here it was a loo stop at McDonald's. Phil & Mary left us here for a taxi into Barnsley. The rest of us carried on leaving the railway path only to join another, before passing the remains of an old priory and Deane valley park before the small section of the Barnsley canal and roads into Barnsley town.
