The idea for this walk being to get a local walk for our living in the Tamworth area members and they attended in a force of zero! So the six of us that travelled from Brum, set off from Wilnecote station in overcast weather towards the canal. Shortly after joining this, we had a short heavy shower but no more throughout the day. It was agreed at the start that we would extend the walk to take in a route traversing the Statfold Barn Railway as I knew there was a service running, ideal for the Ned's. Of course, going off route for me is never easy, and so we criss crossed a couple of fields looking for the correct paths! We eventually arrived at the railway, took our lunch whilst watching, a little disappointingly the diesel and not steam hauled trains.

There was an option then, of getting the free courtesy bus from the railway back into Tamworth but we all decided to carry on with the walk back to the end. Mac left us here at Tamworth to meet up with a friend, conveniently forgetting to pay his quid, the rest of us having a couple of beers and being joined by 'Johnny 2 sticks' for a while. The pound subs are beginning to be more trouble than they're worth with somebody else having no cash on them. (Committee take note please)

Surprisingly, everyone seemed to enjoy the walk! 😀
