The journey up to Hartford was in torrential rain so with waterproofs at the ready .

We arrived Hartford at 1045 and the rain had stopped and this was the situation throughout the day surprisingly .

The followed pavements through Hartford village and on to Vale royal estate passing the old abbey / hall before field paths and lanes took us to the whitegate way .

After lunch the followed the old railway line to catclough crossing leaving it here to follow lanes and  passing winsford salt mine to the weather cut .

We followed the towpath passing vale royal locks and viaduct leaving it at the Hartford bridge .

A road walk took us back to the station and refreshments in the coachman opposite the station

Good day enjoyed by all and so lucky with the weather

A.Dulson
