Tuesday 17th March 2026
Stonehouse to Stroud Brewery 5 miles

On arrival at Stroud in sunny weather we caught the 11.59 to Stonehouse .
A short road walk took us to the Stroud water navigation which we followed the towpath back to stroud .
The navigation becomes the Thames & Severn canal which we continued on tow path to the Stroud brewery stopping briefly for lunch on a lock .
A few refreshments at brewery before bus back to Stroud to check in at our various accommodations
Wednesday 18th March
Stonehouse circular 8 miles

The group caught the 0952 to Stonehouse and followed paths to join the Cotswolds way following steep grassy paths
After a couple of miles Ray left us to descend and go and walk the canal.
The rest of us carried on to standish woods with great views inc the severn estuary
Woodland psths took us to Harefield beacon car park where the picnic tables where used for a lunch stop.
After the break we walked to the toposcope and on to the trig point at Haresfield beacon
Before descending and following field paths with many stiles to outskirts of Stonehouse
A walk through a housing estate took us to the Woolpack inn where refreshments were taken
Well deserved drink on what was a toughish walk in warm weather
We returned to Stroud on the train and evening was spent at the Stroud hotel steaknight with all 14 of us in attendance
Thursdsy 19th March
Stroud to Painswick and Painswick Beacon circular 8 miles

We started this walk from Stroud a few short aa some returned home and others went off to do own thing
We started the walk from Stroud at 10am minus Karl who was joining us at painwick
Underlating field paths and some muddy lanes took us to outskirts of painswick before a very steep road walk up to Painswick church .
Karl joined us here and Bernard left us after a ahort lunch break we headed towards Painswick Beacon .
A road walk rook us to woodland which we paased through then through a golf course on to a short steep ascent to the Trig point of Painswick beacon .
With great views again of Gloucester and surronding area .
We then retraced our steeps off the Beacon and joined a woodland to descend to field paths and tracks along side painswick stream
On arrival at Painswick we got bus to Stroud then returned home
Brilliant weather made these 3 days and thanks to everyone who cane along
