We arrived Scarborough to drop our baggage off and catch the 1253 bus to Cloughton.
On arrival at Cloughton we made our way down a lane to join the coastal path in good weather.
We followed the path through to Scalby Mill with some steep ascents and descents .
We had if available planned to travel on the north Scarborough railway but we had missed last train by 10 mins.
So we walked along the promenade and got a ice cream along the way .
We then ascend paths up to Scarborough castle then descended down to the harbour following the promenade again to the Scarborough tramway which we had intended to use but it had been closed to a maintenance issue
So now we had to ascend the stairs alongside the tramway which brought a few moans but by time ascended the steps they were to out breath to moan
We all then went to check in our accommodation .

Robin hood's bay to Whitby 7.5 miles
Walkers present : As Monday 16th except D.Martin (12)
We caught the 0950 bus to Robin Hood's Bay arriving in good weather and walked down the steep road down to the harbour .
After a few photo stops and for Brenda to do some shopping for a cap we then had to go back up the hill to join the coastal path as the route that intended was shut .
On reaching the coastal path this was followed with some steep muddy descents and ascents which were tricky at times .
We stopped for a bite to eat on a wall at Hawsker lighthouse there were reports of Dolphins in this area but we never saw them .
We carried on along the coastal path with Whitby abbey coming into view our destination .
We reached the abbey and some took the choice of the brewery just behind the abbey or going down to the harbour and everyone made own way back by bus
Those who chose the brewery met up with Phil & Mary who had done a short walk along the cinder trail ( old railway line ).

Bridlington to Flamborough north landing 9.5 miles /6miles
Walkers present ; As Tuesday 17 th with D.Martin ,P.Cotterill,M.Simmonds and non member D.Hogg joining us and exception of M.Sadler (15)
We caught the 1002 train to Bridlington and walked to the harbour front
This walk was a 2tier walk some of the group stayed in Bridlington and got the bus at 1150 to Flamborough village hall
The rest of just carried on along the promenade to Sewerby hall/ cricket club were the path became grass and some steep ascents and descents and on . reaching Beacon hill were we timed it perfectly as the other group arrived at same time from Flamborough (Thanks Phil for leading the group ).
After a photo stop we carried on along the coastal path with Flamborough light house coming into view .
At a path junction I gave the group.option of going round the headland to the bird hide or go straight up to cafe and toilets by the lighthouse .
Some chose the coffee and cake option others chose to
see the seals option which we did see some but not many birds only a Merlin of any interest
We had lunch at the benches near the lighthouse after which we had a group photo with lighthouse in back ground which Brenda replied what lighthouse as our response was the one behind you so she must have just focused on the cafe and not looked up .
The coastal path took us to North landing where there was chance of ice cream before the bus back to Bridlington
After a drink in Bridlington we said our good-byes to Pau Graterl as he was travelling home and we got the train back to Scarborough .

Filey circular via Filey Brigg 4-5 miles
Walkers present : As wednesday 18th with exception of M.Sadler, J.Rutland.P.Grater (13)
We caught the 1002 to Filey with the guard announcing happy birthday to Kim enroute
With storm Babet arriving we decided on not do the planned walk of either 6 miles to Cayton bay or 10.5 miles to Scarborough .
So we left the station along roads to Filey country park were we ascended steps and descended steps to Filey sailing club slipway then ascended steps up to Filey Brigg .
It was at the sailing club slipway Mac was not finding the steps easy so Phil offered to take Mac onto the promenade for a coffee and wait for us .
We walked out along Filey Brigg in high winds and heavy rain but even this didn't put us off as they enjoyed the sight of the crashing waves .
The sodden group then retraced our steps to the sailing club slipway and then along the beach to a slipway on to the promenade to join Phil & Mac In the cobbles coffee shop .
After a bit of a dry off and warm drink we followed the promenade before ascending steps up to the gardens
Along the promenade we did have a group photo by a giant fisherman which Paul Freeman was taking but he thought that Dave Hogg was reading a info board and kept shouting Dave ,Dave but this guy wasnt Dave it was a random stranger in the same colour coat our Dave was already by the rest of group
Which brought much amusement to the group and the stranger thinking who's this nutter calling me Dave .
After leaving the gardens we all went our diffirent ways some opting for a drink and some going back to get train to Scarborough
In the evening we all had a meal at Ask Italian to end a few good days of walking and to celebrate Kim's birthday
Friday 20th October 2023
No walk return home but little did we know this would be the most eventful day of the week
Due to storm Babet some choose to leave earlier than others
We all managed to get to York ok except Mark who decided to go via Hull eventually getting off at Doncaster and going via kings cross and Euston .
The others had trains cancelled at Leeds and tryed many diffirent options and then ended up via Manchester .
Hem who had furthest to go had no problems I had shortest to go Derby and ended spending night in hotel in Sheffield and Saturday had to get a train to Alfreton and a bus and a lift off my partner Pauline as still no services to Derby or Nottingham or even local buses due to major flooding .
Hope that this multiday walk will be remembered for the walks not journey home
A.Dulson
