Matlock to Bakewell 9 miles (22/03/23)

We met at Derby for the 1035 train to Matlock .

The walk started with a short road walk due to the Derwent river path been closed but once we joined it we followed this all the way to Rowsley

Passing through Darley dale and church town with its 2.000 year old tree in the church yard

On reaching Rowsley we had lunch in the square of Rowsley peak village shopping complex

Before taking fields and a steep lane and descending down alongside the river Wye into Bakewell

Where refreshments were taken before bus back to Chesterfield for our overnight stay for four of us .Andy returned by bus via Matlock

Walk was muddy in places but we had no rain
