Four of us arrived in Baslow by bus to be met by the Graters who were staying in their camper van close by .

The walk followed the Derwent valley way following lanes and fields to Calver

We're we had the only downpour of the day which by time some of us struggled to get water proofs on it had stopped

After the passing Calver mill the peace was broken by four Finnish F18 Hornet fighter jets passing over a impressive sight .

The walk took us through woodland tracks crossing a few streams and waterfalls but very muddy in places

On arrival at Grindleford village refreshment was taken at the village community shop at the church which we even managed to sit outside

After lunch we proceeded through more woodland paths to the outskirts of Hathersage leaving the Derwent behind to take lanes in to the village for refreshment in the little John pub

The Graters left us for their bus back to Baslow and a short walk for the four us for the train back via Sheffield

A good couple days with much better weather than expected and was enjoyed by all

A.Dulson
